THE DOWN LOW: Yoga for Pelvic Mobility

This yoga series is an invitation to explore pelvic mobility – assessing imbalances, releasing what is tight, strengthening what is weak, and ultimately arriving at a greater feeling of vitality in the lower body.

This series will introduce you to:

  • Yoga asana (postures) with strategic use of props and carefully guided self-assists, pranayama (breathwork), and creative visualization, to help you access and release the pelvic diaphragm
  • Isometric engagement and myofascial release techniques to release posterior chain muscles (down the back of the body), alleviating “butt” pain and reducing compression in the low back
  • Range of movement sequences for the hips in both reclined and weight bearing positions in order to self-assess strengths and weaknesses, informing how you approach future practice and exercise
  • Variations of core strength exercises that meet you where you are at and help you find your growth edges, in order to safely strengthen your pelvic floor, deep abdominals, obliques, QL and diaphragm
  • Passive, sustained postures to lengthen the hip flexors and release tension around the sacroiliac joints

Ultimately, this series will give you the time and space to lean into those areas that feel disconnected and the tools to get the energy moving again. This series is appropriate for most levels. You will need the following props: 1 yoga blanket2 yoga blocks (or block substitutes)1 set of Yoga Tune Up Balls ( or 2 tennis balls) in a tube sock All classes will be recorded and made available to participants for 2 weeks following each livestream class.
